Parivar
A joint family consisting of four brothers, their wives, and their respective children, living under one roof. Some of the brothers are professionls, one a lawyer, a doctor, and others businessmen. They are a happy family, living and sharing each other's joys and sorrows. Then one day, an arguement breaks out over a glass of milk, and the entire family is thrown into chaos, and the only resolution seems to be nothing but dividing the entire property amongst the brothers and their respective families.

Ratha Paasam
Raja is a petty thief living around the streets of Bombay, indulging in pickpocketing. In the same city lives Rani who makes a living through dancing. The two meet and fall in love. Raghu, the owner of a cycle company, lives luxuriously with his wife Sarala and children in Madras. Madhu, his manager, has been misappropriating the company funds with the help of his lover Manorama who Raghu is later attracted to. The company is soon closed due to losses, putting Sarala and her children in poverty.

On a dark, stormy night, a young woman appeared near the orphanage. Holding her child close to her chest one last time, she left him at the door and disappeared as quietly as she had come. Rai Bahadur Bhujanga Choudhury married Smritikana many years after the death of her first wife. Often she remembers the incidents in her previous life and she behaves in extremely unnatural way. Tanima (Suchitra Sen) is the daughter of Bhujanga from his first marriage. Tanima takes his stepmother Smritikana to the hospital for treatment. There Tanima fell in love with the Doctor Ashok (Uttamkumar) who was treating Smritikana. When she saw Dr. Ashok first time, Smritikana behaved in an weird way and she thought Ashok is his Son. Although in love with Tanima, Ashok refused to marry her because he himself is an orphan and doesn't know his parents. One day while Dr. Ashok was talking to his senior Dr (who looked after Ashok since his childhood) and Tanima, suddenly they heard some people chasing a thief (Gurudas). When the thief entered, Smritikana devi saw him and instantly recognized him as Gurudas. Then the story from her previous birth unfolded.
